Goatacre Manor Care Centre - Nursing Home
Goatacre Manor Care Centre began with John and Margaret O’Dea (RGN), who felt that people deserved more. More love, more respect and the very best of care that everyone deserves as they get older. And so it began with three residents in a beautifully restored listed building. John and Margaret more than achieved their goal and the home is now a medium-sized nursing home which has been in the O’Dea family for 32 years and continues to provide person-centred care to all our residents and their families.
What makes our nursing home truly exceptional, is that we offer a holistic approach to caring for our residents. We have 24-hour on-site staff to take care of our residents’ physical and emotional needs and a dedicated well-being team to support and encourage residents to squeeze as much enjoyment out of their lives as possible. We, also actively encourage the involvement and participation from family members and friends to come in and join in our many events and activities that we offer regularly within our nursing home.
To accommodate the needs of our residents, our nursing home offers a variety of facilities that we are continuously adding to and upgrading to ensure the utmost comfort for our residents. We have both single occupancy rooms to cater to individual needs and we also offer suites and companion rooms for couples. We believe it is important, where possible, for couples to have an opportunity to stay together and have support navigating their changing needs together in a warm, supportive environment.
In addition to our rooms and our facilities, our nursing home is a comprehensively equipped for any urgent or medical needs and is registered under the terms of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 with the Care Quality Commission; we are also a proud member of the Registered Nursing Home Association.
A Nursing home with rural landscapes and surrounding farmland
The nursing home is within a lovingly preserved grade 2 listed building with modern enhancements set in landscaped gardens, overlooking Goatacre Cricket Club and surrounding farmland. Whilst the outlook is rural and tranquil, the home is easily accessible by car or bus. The number 55 bus operates from Goatacre Lane, next to the nursing home, every 20 minutes from 06:05 to 23:30 (from 08:00 on Sunday). The nearest railway station is Chippenham, only 20 minutes away.
At Goatacre Manor Care Centre we aim to create a home from home where residents are encouraged to personalise their private rooms to feel at home and comfortable.
The bedrooms at Goatacre Manor Care vary in style, shape, and size but all our lovely and have their own unique charm. While some rooms in our older buildings are cosy and quaint with that ‘homey’ feel, others are bright, crisp and freshly painted. Our rooms are always beautifully decorated and perfectly clean. And, just as important as that, we encourage and help residents to add those personal touches to their rooms that make it their own. In addition to the private bedrooms, Goatacre Manor benefits from a self-contained suite. The ‘Wisteria Suite’ enables couples to remain together and receive high-quality nursing and residential care whilst retaining as much independence as possible. The suite incorporates a double bedroom, sitting room, large bathroom and garden. The ‘Wisteria Suite’ is situated within the original Manor House and retains original period features.
In 2016 we opened a self-contained conservatory café Margaret’s’ café for residents and their families and friends to enjoy refreshments in a relaxing café style environment. The café is named after the lady that started it all Margaret O’Dea.
CRICKET PITCH-SIDE VIEWING
Located adjacent to the idyllic gardens is a traditional classic village cricket pitch. A wonderful way for our residents to spend some quality time outdoors and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. For those that fancy a tipple, a chat and a change of scenery, Goatacre Cricket club also has it’s own bar and clubhouse.
CINEMA AND PARTY ROOM
In 2019, we extended the home another 5 rooms and a cinema and events rooms with balcony view of the neighbouring cricket pitches is now available for family events and our famous cinema nights – Popcorn for all! You can see the new facilities in our gallery.
